SWORD DESIGN : WHITE DEER

This sword, WHITE DEER, is designed to be carried by the prince of Dali Kingdom.
The sword named after "White Deer" and the guard is decorated with a deer, carries a wish for having a wise leader and a prolonging dynasty. White deer is one of the most auspicious animals in Chinese culture. In Chinese language, “deer” is a homophone for the word lù (禄), meaning prosperity. White deer has a very long lifespan, therefore it is usually the symbol for longevity. There is also an ancient Chinese saying that the white deer appears only when the king is wise.
In this design, the handle is covered with ray skin, which provides great durability and excellent grip. The scabbard is made of hardwood and is decorated with mother of pearl inlays in cloud pattern, which symbolizes good luck.
